Toddler girl adopted from Thailand by Kristen Richburg and her then-husband was disrupted after 5 years in the home due to reactive attachment disorder. There were 2 older biological children in the home. Girl was adopted by a new family. Kristen is an adult adoptee and is known as Kristen Paulsen now.

Death Certificates for birth parents and Birth Certificates for 1 child are forged. Based on falsified documentation, guardianship was granted by Ugandan courts to adoptive parents and then a NOID issued by USCIS. Child was not an orphan, not eligible for adoption and returned to care of bio family.

Other cases of 3 families paying AFAA for foster care for 5 children they intended to adopt, only to learn these 5 children were in their birth homes and not in need of adoption.

A boy adopted from foster care by Edward and Lori Drones had all but $15 of his $830,000 trust fund spent by his adoptive parents in the 12 months after they gained control of the funds. They adopted the previously abused boy at age 11 and successfully sued the State of Alaska on his behalf a few years later.

At the time “teen” girl adopted by David and Anne Jacquot was sexually abused by her adoptive father. Jacquot was sentenced to a 25-year term of supervised release.

8-month-old Gabriel Johnson, born to Logan McQueary and Elizabeth Johnson, disappeared December 26, 2009. Elizabeth Johnson, without consent of the father, tried to place Gabriel for adoption with an Arizona couple. This placement never materialized, and December 29, 2009, Elizabeth Johnson was arrested. She claimed to have given Gabriel to a couple in San Antonio, Texas.

6 year old boy adopted by Jami Lea Jones and Louis David Jones died 4 days after being rushed to the hospital, cause is not yet released. News videos report 1 of the other 5 children in the home was adopted, and that the Joneses were a homeschooling church-going family. Both parents were found guilty of malice murder and sentenced to life in prison.

23-year-old man, learned on December 19, 2009, his former girl-friend who was pregnant with his child at the time, was going to stay in Utah for some time. On January 13, 2010, Ramsey Shaud filed his claim to the child with the Utah Office of Vital Records and Statistics, two days before the birth of the child. Since entering his claim into the state's database took 7 days, he was one day late, and the adoption of his child proceeded.
