abuse case
The assumption behind child-placement is that the safety and living conditions of a child improve. These cases demonstrate that this assumption is often invalid.
child trafficking case
There is often a fine line between adoption and child trafficking. In many cases this line is being crossed.
coerced adoption case
Adoption is assumed to be the result of a choice made by the parents of the child. These cases demonstrate women are pressured to give up their children.
deportation case
Adoptions before 1997, didn't automatically lead to naturalization. As result, people adopted from outside the outside US that ran into problems with the justice system face deportation to their country of birth.
disrupted placement case
Although the adoptive family is called the "forever family" by the adoption industry, adoptions can end in disruption. These cases demonstrate that the "forever family" is sometimes only temporary
father's rights violation case
Adoption requires the consent of both biological parents. These cases demonstrate that the rights of fathers in adoption cases are being violated.
wrongful medication case
Children in foster care can have serious mental health issues. Too often these children are given large doses of psychotropic medications, just to keep them quiet.
wrongful removal case
The removal of children from their family's should always be a last resort. These cases demonstrate that Child Protective Services sometimes remove children for all the wrong reasons

Pridine Fru

Actress and talk-show host Pridine Fru was imprisoned and physically and sexually abused by her adoptive parents, Joseph and Evelyn  Djoumessi, from the time she was illegally adopted at age 14 until she was rescued at age 17.

Timothy Boss

10 year old adoptive son of Donald Boss jr. and Lisa Boss Green was killed by the couple and buried in the basement. Timothy was adopted in Michigan,  but the Boss's informed Michigan authorities that the child was living in Iowa in order to receive monthly subsidy checks from Michigan.

9-year-old Russian girl from Borovichi, Novgorod, adopted by Crystal and Jesse Money from the State of Georgia was returned to Moscow by her adoptive parents because they could not cope with her.

The Moneys, claimed they were not fully alerted to Samantha's condition by the adoption agency, which gave them a glowing account of the girl's personality despite evidence of mental retardation.

Frank Foundation brought  "Samantha" back to the US to find a new home, her location is unknown.
disrupted placement case

2 children, then known as Ethan and Auriel Banks, adopted from Romania by Scott and Karen Banks, were disrupted and placed with the Duke Purcell family in American Samoa 9 years post adoption. The adoptees were left without any identity papers or passports and they could not leave the island.
Two years later, a third child with CP, also adopted from Romania, was institutionalized at age 12.

Banks had 2 bio children, 3 from Romania, 3 from Russia, and later one girl originally from China, that they were allowed to adopt against the wishes of the original adoptive parents.

Cheryl Carter-Shotts and Charlie Shotts fostered a boy from Mali who was disrupted after 4 years. He came to the US on humanitarian parole. (Shotts eventually adopted daughter, came to the USA on a "student visa")
This boy was named Mohammed (their 2nd son with the same name). He was with the Shotts for 4 years, placed in a group home, and later adopted by another woman.

Fatima 
Fatima and Sali's 2-year-old daughter Zabeen was snatched as she played outside her home in Chennai. Fatima recognized Zabeen in an MSS brochure shown to her by police. Zabeen now lives with adoptive parents in Queensland.

John Smith

John Smith, died with 54 bruises, including three adult bite marks, on his body. The boy, was seen with injuries in four of the six months he spent with his prospective adoptive parents Simon and Michelle McWilliam. His penis was cut, his face burnt and his body bruised from head to toe, injuries seen by social workers who never once sought medical help for him. 

John died on Christmas Eve 1999 from a severe brain haemorrhage, which experts testified was caused by blows normally seen on battered boxers.
