9-year-old girl adopted by a 50-year-old nurse from the RK Puram residential colony of Delhi, was tortured by her adoptive mother. She was forced to sleep unclothed on the roof and balcony of the house. The adoptive mother slashed the girls' tongue with a knife and brandered her with hot coal.

4-year-old boy adopted by Joseph Paul Wilson and Jodi Ann Wilson, died in the hospital after sustaining injuries. His adoptive parents are charged with murder. 
 

A 12-year-old girl adopted by and a 7-year-old boy in foster care with Robert and Sheri Leason, were allegedly both abused. The boy was allegedly physically abused by his foster mother, while the girl was allegedly sexually abused by her adoptive father.

8-year-old girl adopted by her aunt Mandie Miller died due to unknown causes. Her body was transported by her adoptive mother and Aleksander Kurmoyarov, the mother's boy friend, to South Dakota. 

The couple was attempting to bring the body to be buried on the Rosebud Indian Reservation. Kurmoyarov told detectives that he and Miller tied Meelah up for several hours a day, and that Miller would hit her toes with a hammer when she misbehaved. 

He said at nighttime they would put her in a bath robe and secure her like she was in a straitjacket. He admitted to tying her up for four to six hours a day, and zip -tied her to a car seat the day she died. He said he slapped her twice on the day she died, the documents said.

11-year-old boy adopted by Susan Orendorf was allegedly abused by her. She was accused of not feeding the boy, handcuffing him to a bed and strangling him.

11-year-old girl adopted by Brian and Leticia McCormack, was tortured to death by her adoptive parents. Brian McCormack committed suicide shortly after Arabella's death.

One of three boys, aged 8, 9 and 13, adopted from Colombia was sexually abused by his adoptive father.

13-year-old girl adopted by Wilma Edwards was tied to her bed each night using ratchet straps and was extremely malnourished. She had liver and kidney damage and bruising and lacerations all over her body.
