VHP accuses Christian organisations of child trafficking

Bhopal: Accusing some Christian organisations of running rackets of child trafficking through unlawful adoption, the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) Sunday demanded a judicial probe into the issue.

"We want that judicial team comprising three retired judges should probe into the children trafficking racket by unlawful adoption being run by the Christian organisations from their orphanages, homes and other places, " VHP national secretary Mohan Joshi told reporters here.

He said that Pune based Gurukul Godavari Balak Ashram Head Balak Mathew was recently arrested on the charge of illegally adopting a child and then selling this HIV positive boy to a childless couple.

Joshi said that the CBI had recently registered a case against a management trustee of another organisation - Preet Mandir in Pune, having links with Mathew, on the charge of kidnapping poor children, mostly from rural areas, and selling them abroad.

He alleged that children are being converted to Christian faith in such orphanages and homes.

The VHP leader said that the traffickers of children from the Northeast have set up base in Tamil Nadu, adding that recently rackets being run by the Christian organisations have been busted and the children who were going to be sold abroad rescued.
