Adopted at age 13 from Ethiopia, together with two of her sisters, believing she was coming to America for an educational program during which she would come home every summer and on school breaks. See: Journee, Meya, and Maree Bradshaw case (Tarikuwa Lemma was rename Journee Bradshaw while adopted, she has since changed her name back).
8 months into the adoption, Tarikuwa was sent to her adoptive grandmother in Iowa and told never to return.
