Woman linked with illegal adoptions is deported from the U.S.

Lawyer Alma Beatriz Valle Flores de Mejía arrived in Guatemala Thursday after being deported from the U.S. Valle is linked with various illegal adoption cases through her involvement with the Asociación Primavera.

Valle Flores arrived around 1 pm and police transferred her to the fourth criminal court of first instance where she gave her declaration.

The lawyer was captured in Houston, USA, and a warrant had been ordered for her address by the sixth criminal court of first instance on October 2nd, 2009.

According to investigations carried about by CICIG and the public ministry, she formed part of a network dedicated to the illegal adoption of several minors.

U.S. authorities detained Valle for staying in the country illegally since her visa had expired and she had not requested renewal.

Valle is charged with human trafficking, conspiracy, forgery of documents and falsifying the public record given that she is listed as having formed part of a criminal organization made up of several people, including the lawyer Susana Luarca Saracho, child and juvenile court judges, PGN officials [the legal representative of Guatemala] and lawyers dedicated to the adoption business.

The complainant and civil actor are CICIG and the Fundación Sobrevivientes [Survivors' Foundation].

At approximately 4:30 pm on November 3, 2006 the child Anyeli Liseth Hernández Rodríguez, aged 2 years and one month, was kidnapped by an unknown woman from a public thoroughfare near the child's residence in San Miguel Petapa, Guatemala. The woman entered a white taxi and took off with the child.

The minor's mother, Loyda Elizabeth Rodríguez Morales, reported the kidnapping to the National Civil Police who began an investigation for her recovery.

After reviewing case files of children given up for adoption she found the case file No. 0733-2008-CNA-EN which corresponded to and identified a child of the same age and physical characteristics of her daughter, but with a different name: Karen Abigal López García, and whose adoption occurred through Asociación Primavera.

La abogada Alma Beatriz Valle Flores de Mejía, llegó este jueves al país deportada desde Estados Unidos. Valle está vinculada a varios procesos de adopciones ilegales a través de la entidad Asociación Primavera.

Valle Flores llegó al país a eso de las 13 horas y las las fuerzas de seguridad la trasladaron al Juzgado Cuarto de Primera Instancia Penal, donde rindió su primera declaración.

La abogada, que tenía una orden de aprehensión desde el 2 de octubre de 2009 girada por el Juzgado Sexto de Primera Instancia Penal, fue capturada en Houston, EE. UU..

Según las investigaciones de la Cicig y el MP, esta notaria formaba parte de una red dedicada a la adopción ilegal de varios menores.

Las autoridades estadounidenses detuvieron a Valle por permanecer ilegalmente en ese país, debido a que su visa se le venció y no solicitó renovación.

Valle es sindicada de trata de personas, conspiración, uso de documentos falsificados y falsedad ideológica, en virtud de que se le señala de haber formado parte de un grupo delictivo organizado integrado por varias personas, entre ellas la abogada Susana Luarca Saracho, jueces de niñez y adolescencia, funcionarios de Procuraduría General de la Nación y abogados dedicados al negocio de las adopciones.

Como querellante y actor civil actúala CICIG y la Fundación Sobrevivientes.

El 3 de noviembre de 2006, a las 16:30 horas aproximadamente, la niña Anyeli Liseth Hernández Rodríguez de 2 años y 1 mes de edad, quien se encontraba en la vía pública cerca de su residencia, en San Miguel Petapa, Guatemala, fue raptada por una mujer aún no identificada, quien a bordo de un taxi color blanco se llevó consigo a la niña.

La madre de la menor, Loyda Elizabeth Rodríguez Morales, interpuso denuncia ante la Policía Nacional Civil por la sustracción de la niña, dándose origen a la investigación para su rescate.

Tras revisar expedientes de niños dados en adopción, encontró el expediente No. 0733-2008-CNA-EN, el cual corresponde e identifica a una niña de la misma edad y características físicas a las de su hija, con un nombre distinto, Karen Abigail López García, y cuyo proceso de adopción se realizó a través de Asociación Primavera.
