Kerry, any international adoption is a risk. You do not know the genetic background of the parents, nor can you fully appreciate the high risk pre and post-natal factors seen in Eastern European institutions. For these reasons, you must try to get the most solid Romanian Foundation available in order to take the best care of the child. The foundation that I have found to be the most reputable in all of Romania is "Fundata Copii Fericiti" run by Dr. Bogdan Ivanescu. He has several foster care programs and has taken very good care of many of the children I have seen adopted. Dr. Ivanescu and his foundation can be emailed at bogi@fx.ro Please tell him that you are interested in having him manage your adoption if you have not already contracted with someone. He is an honest, reputable colleague of mine that I have worked with for years and know his work and dedication to children. |
