Around 54 orphans lodged at Pune's Preet Mandir will be taken out to pray in a Gurudwara, Temple, Mosque and Church starting Thursday. This is a part of the Maharashtra government's Adoption Week that starts from Thursday, which is also Guru Nanak Jayanti day, and also Children's Day.
J S Bhasin, chief trustee Balwant Kartar Anand Foundation which runs the Preet Mandir told MiD DAY that the group of children aged above three years will visit all these religious places as at present they do not have any religion. "They will pray to God so that they get good families soon," he added.
Holy tour
On Thursday, which is Guru Nanak Jayanti, the children will visit the Hollywood Gurudwara in Camp. On Friday they will pray at the Saras Baug Ganesh temple, followed by the Baba Jaan mosque on Saturday. On Sunday they will visit the St Mary's Church.
"This is the first time that such an activity is being conducted in the city," Bhasin said. "All necessary permissions have been taken to take the children out," he added. Caretakers, nurses and junior staff will accompany the children.
