Ohio Nat'l Guardsman Charged with Child Sex Abuse in Union County

UNION COUNTY (Ken Hines) -- An Ohio National Guard member currently stationed in Kuwait faces more than a dozen charges related to the alleged sexual abuse of children.

Jean Paul Kruse was indicted on five counts of rape and sexual battery on Monday, along with several additional charges.

The charges are the result of an investigation that began in August, 2012 when Union Co. Jobs and Family Services officials attempted to remove Kruse's 11 children from the family's home.

Investigators said Kruse abused 3 children between the ages of 5 and 12 during a 6-year-period beginning in 2006.

Kruse is also charged -- along with his wife, Emily -- with intimidating an attorney, victim, or witness. Emily Kruse faces an additional count of obstruction of justice.

Jean Paul and Emily Kruse are scheduled to be arraigned on August 1.
