Charged with Child Abuse and Neglect

On 6-14-13, The Goldsboro Police DepartmentCriminal Investigation Division filed charges against the adoptive parents of a 15-year-old male and a 13-year-old female, after launching an investigation into alleged child abuse on 5/29/13.

On June 14th, 44-year-old Erin James Pickel and 43-year-old Jennifer Kay Pickel, both of Forest Hill Drive, Goldsboro, were each charged with five (5) Felony counts of Intentional Child Abuse and five (5) counts of Felonious Child Neglect.

The victims of the abuse and neglect were the Pickel’s adopted children, and have been removed from the home. The allegations of abuse extend from 2008 to present. The Wayne County Department of Social Services, U.S. Air Force Security Forces Investigations, and the TEDI Bear Children’s AdvocacyCenter in Greenville assisted in the investigation.

Mr. and Mrs. Pickel were both left in the custody of the WayneCounty jail under a $25,000.00 secured bond pending their first appearance scheduled for 6-17-13.
