A former Newberg teacher and youth pastor was sentenced Tuesday in Marion County Circuit Court to 19 years in prison for sexually abusing a preteen girl.

And he still has similar charges pending in Yamhill County, involving the same victim.

David Charles Gilmore, 40, has taught at C.S. Lewis Christian School in Newberg and St. Paul Elementary School in St. Paul. He also has given piano lessons and led youth Bible study sessions at churches in two communities.

He lived in St. Paul at the time of the Marion County offenses and in Newberg at the time of their Yamhill County counterparts, which occurred earlier. He doesn't have a trial date yet in Yamhill County.

Gilmore has four biological children and three adopted children.

A local teenager was accused of abusing one of the girls contemporaneously with Gilmore's abuse of a different victim. However, he convinced juries in two counties that any abuse had been inflicted by someone else.

Those cases remain dormant. No one has been charged in his stead.
