Husband Pleads Guilty In 4-Year-Old Daughter’s Death
MT. JULIET, Tenn.- The husband of a former pediatrician convicted of killing their 4-year-old daughter has pleaded guilty in connection with the girl's death.
Steven Mark pleaded guilty to facilitation of aggravated child abuse, aggravated assault by failure to protect, and child abuse. He faces up to 32 years in prison.
In 2011, his wife Dr. Deborah Mark was convicted of first degree murder and abuse for the death of their adopted daughter Kairissa Mark. Kairissa was rushed from the family's home on Laurel Hill Drive in the Providence neighborhood to Vanderbilt Children's Hospital with serious injuries on July 1, 2010. She died from her injuries the next day. After examining her body, investigators found bruises from her head to her toes. They believe the wounds were inflicted by both hand and by objects.
