Ex-Commissioner Scott Dean's trial delayed again
By Valerie Rowell
The child molestation case against a former Columbia County Commission member was delayed Tuesday for the sixth time.
Scott Dean faces two charges of molesting an adopted daughter. She is one of five children that Dean and his wife adopted from Guatemala in 2008.
He pleaded not guilty to the charges in February.
The case had been scheduled on Superior Court Judge James G. Blanchard Jr.’s trial calendars March 28, May 9, June 13, July 11, and Aug. 22. It was continued (postponed) each time.
Dean is accused of exposing himself and inappropriately touching the girl, according to the indictment.
After his indictment, Dean resigned from his post as a District 4 commissioner.
The case is expected to be on the judge’s next Columbia County trial calendar, which hasn’t yet been scheduled.
