Anhui orphanage boss jailed for human trafficking
AN orphanage director in east China's Anhui Province has been jailed for six years for human trafficking after selling a two-year-old boy and a woman with mental problems.
Yongcheng People's Court in Henan Province's Shangqiu City announced the verdict yesterday on the
director surnamed Shi with an orphanage in Anhui's Dangshan County, today's China News Service reported.
Shi was also fined 3,000 yuan (US$442.98).
The court said Shi conspired with three other people to sell the boy under the orphanage's care for 15,000 yuan to a couple in Yongcheng in January 2007. He got 7,000 yuan and used it to run the orphanage.
In May that year, Shi conspired with them again to sell a woman with mental problems for 10,000 yuan to a local villager in Dangshan to be his wife.
In December last year, Shangqiu police rescued her after she had been sold twice. Solving the case led to the boy's trafficking case.
