EAC About us 2004
As an adoptive mom of two children, Margaret understands the grief and emotional losses that often lead to the path of adoption.
As you explore the choices before you, let us be part of that journey. Our adoption consultants, many who have adopted themselves, know some of your personal concerns. Please think of our agency as a resource... a place where you may very well begin to walk the path that will make that dream a reality. Infants and toddlers are waiting for you. Their lives will be forever changed through adoption by loving and caring couples. These wonderful little children live in orphanages in Russia, China, Vietnam, Kazakhstan and Guatemala. They wait too!
Margaret Cole, Executive Director of EAC, became active in international adoption in 1991. Margaret and her husband Tim's daughter Alicia died at six weeks of age from Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS). While going through the process of adopting a child Margaret and other members of her family realized that there was much that could be done to help other families who found themselves in a similar situation. From this realization, EAC was born. Margaret always remembers the emotions and feelings that brought her to this path.
Bob Hughes, Alicia's grandfather, [note: Robert E Hughes] also played an active role in the founding of EAC. His sudden death came the month that EAC received its license, and his memory is a driving force in helping the agency maintain its focus.
It is with prayer and with love that this agency is dedicated to the memory of
Grandpa Bob and little Alicia Hughes. It is our hope that out of this family's tragedy and loss might come many good things for families in the United States and orphaned children throughout the world.
