COREY WILLIAMS

DETROIT (AP) — A prosecutor says the person arrested in the death of a 9-year-old quadriplegic girl whose body was found in a Michigan storage unit is her adoptive mother.

Special Assistant Genesee County Prosecutor John Potbury says the woman is a blood relative of the girl, Shylea Myza Thomas.

Potbury says the unidentified woman could faces charges ranging from misdemeanor moving a corpse to felony murder. The woman's arraignment is later Thursday.

Shylea's body was found Wednesday in a plastic bag in a storage bin. Moth balls were scattered on top of the bag to mask any smells.

Authorities say they've been told by the family that Shylea had been paralyzed since nearly suffocating in her crib as an infant.
