Villa Hope has been working in Peru since 1988 and have had a contract with the Peruvian Government since 1994 to place healthy children and children with special needs for international adoption.
Children available for adoption through the Villa Hope Peru Program include toddlers, older children, sibling groups, and children with special needs. Two unrelated children may be adopted at the same time.
Waiting Angels Program
This program was created by the Women's and Children's Ministry (MIMDES) in Peru, which is the governing authority of adoptions in the country. The children available for adoption in this program are considered "waiting angels" due to medical special needs, developmental delays, children older than 5 years, adolescents and sibling groups.
If you are interested in the Waiting Angels Adoption Program please send an email to Pat Baldwin, International Programs Director, at patbaldwin@villahope.org
Adoptive Family QualificationsAdoptive Applicants should be between 25 and 55 years of age. Single adoptive applicants are accepted for children over the age of six years old or a child in the "Waiting Angels" program. Divorce is accepted. Applicants with 2 or more children may adopt a child over the age of 5 years or a child in the "Waiting Angels" program. (Exceptions to the above qualifications may be made for any of the children in the "Waiting Angels" program.)
Once your dossier is submitted to the National Secretary of Adoption (SNA), the waiting time is approximately 9-12 months for approval from SNA and the referral of a child. If you are considering adopting a child from the "Waiting Angels" program the timeframe for approval may be shorter.
Both parents must travel to Peru to finalize the adoption approximately 2-3 weeks after the referral of a child. The family will remain in Peru for approximately 4 to 5 weeks. One parent may return to the United States after about 2 weeks. During your stay in Peru our representative will guide you through the entire adoption process.
