OCALA -- A woman charged this week with murdering her adopted daughter passed all the required background checks before taking custody of the girl last year.
A Department of Children and Families representative said officials at three agencies reviewed the adoption of 2-year-old Faith Ray and found there was nothing in Violet Ray’s past to indicate she might harm Faith.
Ray, 35, was arrested Tuesday after a two-day trial to determine whether her parental rights should be terminated.
An investigation showed Faith Ray suffered blunt force trauma to the head and torso before being admitted to the hospital, and eventually dying from her injuries.
