International AdoptionIs it true that one is called to adopt internationally? The overwhelming response is, “Yes.” Some adoptive applicants have a personal or emotional tie to one country versus another. Others state that once they were informed of the plight of abandoned, neglected children abroad, they chose to respond to God’s call for them to adopt an orphan, a victim of circumstance with no control over his future.
International Children
It was with a compassion for the plight of homeless, needy children that Christian Adoption Services was founded in 1979. For almost three decades, CAS has sought Christ-centered families to make an eternal impact on the life of a child. Today CAS has received authorization to make direct adoptive placements across the US from such countries as The Philippines, El Salvador and Liberia. Though strong networking agreements with other reputable agencies, CAS also places children in North Carolina from countries such as Korea, Russia, Poland and Ukraine. Fact sheets that provide the specifics of each country can be obtained by clicking on the flag of the respective country. Families are needed for all countries.
As one of the first agencies to receive 5-year Hague Accreditation, CAS is well prepared to provide an array of services to prospective adoptive applicants including home studies and pre-adoptive training as well as post-placement and post-adoption counseling.
If God has planted the seed of desire in your heart to adopt, He will guide and direct you to the child that He has predestined for you. CAS eagerly waits to be part of that process.
Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress. James 1: 27-28
CAS international programs (The Philippines, Liberia and El Salvador) are open to all United States residents. Placements from other countries listed below are via coordinating agency thus are open only to North Carolina residents since CAS is not the placing agency. Click on the flags below to get information on each program. Please contact the CAS office at 704.847.0038 for further information.
For out of state families, note The Philippines and El Salvador are Hague Convention countries thus adoptive families must use a Hague accredited agency for their home study or at a minimum, ensure the home study agency receives and follows all guidelines provided by CAS.
Periodically CAS is asked to perform home recruitment for specific children; for more information on this alternative view the Waiting Children page.
El Salvador
Whereas CAS services first began in El Salvador, it is especially exciting to resume adoption services in this Central American country. Although applications are being accepted for children of all ages, the placement time for children under 3 years of age is approximately 18-24 months depending on one’s flexibility of gender and health. The wait for children 4 years of age and older is 12-18 months. Adoptive parents are to be married for 5 years and both applicants are to be no more than 45 years of age older than the child; both adoptive parents must travel. Periodically CAS is asked to perform home recruitment for certain children; for more information on this alternative check Waiting Children.
LiberiaThrough an exclusive partnership with African Christians Fellowship International (ACFI) in Monrovia, Liberia Christian Adoption Services is pleased to announce its newest international adoption program. The children available for adoption reside in one of the ACFI operated orphanages in Liberia. The majority of children in these orphanages are between 4 and 16 years of age and have been admitted into care by their birth parents or relatives. Applicants are to be at least 25 years of age while the maximum age is very flexible. Married couples and singles (considered on a case-by-case basis) are eligible to adopt. There is no length of marriage requirement. The maximum number of children in the home is determined on a case by case basis.
PhilippinesFor 20 years, CAS has been recognized by the Intercountry Adoption Board in The Philippines as an accredited child placing agency. CAS is currently accepting applications for children between the ages of 3 and 16. Please note that applications are not being accepted for girls under the age of three. Adoptive applicants are to be healthy, and at least 27 years of age with the maximum adoptive mother’s age being no more than 45 years older than the child. Couples should be married for at least 3 years. Single women are currently being accepted into this program, though primarily for older and special needs children. Periodically CAS is asked to perform home recruitment for certain children; for more information on this alternative check Waiting Children.
