The fugitive lawyer Rodrigo Johanning Quesada ended yesterday after an action taken by officers of the capture section of the Judicial Investigation Agency (OIJ).

The attorney was hired four months from an apartment in San Francisco, Heredia.

The prosecution submitted that the sentence was under the command of the Criminal Court in San Jose, while waiting for the Directorate General of Social Rehabilitation to determine what prison will be sent.
The prosecution related Johanning and Robles Prosecution to the adoption agency - headquartered in Miami, United States - offering children for adoption in exchange for payment of $ 42,000.
On September 21, 2003, OIJ raided a house in the cradle Uruca, San Jose, where he rescued nine babies, mostly Guatemalans. There, authorities found a paper with the telephone number Robles.

Los días de fuga del abogado Rodrigo Johanning Quesada terminaron ayer tras una acción emprendida por agentes de la sección de Capturas del Organismo de Investigación Judicial (OIJ).
En contra del profesional existía, desde diciembre, una orden de aprehensión al quedar en firme la sentencia impuesta —en el 2006— por el Tribunal de Juicio de San José: 10 años de cárcel por tráfico internacional de menores .
A Johanning lo condenaron, junto con el exgerente del Banco Anglo Costarricenses (BAC), Carlos Hernán Robles, por formar parte de una organización que trajo infantes guatemaltecos al país para darlos en adopción.
El abogado alquilaba desde hacía cuatro meses un apartamento en San Francisco, Heredia.
Cuando la sentencia quedó en firme, el Tribunal envió una notificación a su bufete, en barrio Luján, San José.
Empero, Johanning dejó de acudir a su oficina.
“Solo encendía el teléfono cuando iba a hacer una llamada. Así era muy difícil rastrearlo”, manifestó un investigador del OIJ.
Captura. Los agentes judiciales rodearon el apartamento del prófugo desde la mañana y permanecieron en las afueras a la espera de que saliera.
Eso ocurrió durante la tarde. Johanning conducía un Chevrolet Trailblazer, propiedad de una sociedad anónima.
El día antes de su captura, Johanning negó ser prófugo y haber evadido a la justicia. En su defensa alegó que interpuso varios recursos y que por eso el fallo no había adquirido firmeza (así quedó desde abril del 2008).
La Fiscalía comunicó que el sentenciado quedó a las órdenes del Tribunal Penal de San José, a la espera de que la Dirección General de Adaptación Social determine a cuál centro penitenciario será enviado.
A Johanning y a Robles la Fiscalía los relacionó con una agencia de adopciones – con sede en Miami, Estados Unidos – que ofrecía niños en adopción a cambio del pago de $42.000.
El 21 de setiembre del 2003, el OIJ allanó una casa cuna en La Uruca, San José, donde rescató a nueve bebés, en su mayoría guatemaltecos. Allí, las autoridades encontraron un papel con el número telefónico de Robles.
