Processed four for fraud in adoptions

The victim says it was duped to give her two children in Guatemala City, where they would be adopted.

Four people were prosecuted in the courts of San Salvador on charges of fraud in adoptions of children.  Arely Hernandez was the victim, a woman living in rural areas Tecoluca municipality of San Vicente.

She is a single mother of seven children.  Two of them, from a year ago, do not know where they are, since they were separated from her in Guatemala City.

A review of the economic problems that plagued her in the absence of a parent and their offspring of a permanent job to a neighbor identified as "Mila" was the loss of his daughter and half years and their newborn baby.

 It was October 2006, Arely pregnant with her seventh child, and a presentation card which read: "If you're a single mother, desperate, and who do not have help, we help you," seemed to be the light that was waiting.

And the man who came to be left on the recommendation of "Mila" said he had a place where they could take your baby in Guatemala, which would have a better life.

Two days later, Arely says leaving for Guatemala along with two of the defendants,

.  The trip was made on the grounds that it was better that the baby was born in that territory and then are moved to the United States, where it would be adopted.

She left five children with their families and took in his arms to the smallest, who was then a year and a half.

It took two months since her arrival in Guatemala, during which time she gave false identification documents in the name of

With that name was made with at least five people allegedly linked to the process of adoption in different parts of the Guatemalan capital.

In those two months, her daughter became ill in the skin, so Zúniga y Avilés and also suggested giving the child up for adoption. Arely again accepted.

After giving birth to her baby, gave testimony before a judge of the Guatemalan Peace and gave assurances that his two children by choice.

The woman returned to El Salvador in early 2007 and

.  So far, she does not know where their two children.

Nor received the promised economic aid. Given their desperation, the woman filed a complaint with the Prosecutor.

During the search the house where the four resident defendants, police found the presentation cards referred Arely.  In the card the phone number of Guatemala.

Yesterday, the Tenth Court of First Peace sent to the two defendants to prison for women and two men at the La Esperanza prison, better known as Mariona, where they remain until a preliminary hearing to be held next August.

Cuatro personas son procesadas en los tribunales de San Salvador por el delito de fraude en adopciones de niños. La víctima es Arely Hernández, una mujer residente en el área rural del municipio de Tecoluca, San Vicente.

Es madre soltera de siete hijos. Dos de los cuales, desde hace un año, no sabe dónde están, desde que fueron separados de ella en la ciudad de Guatemala.

El inicio

Un comentario de los problemas económicos que le aquejaban ante la falta del progenitor de sus vástagos y de un empleo fijo a una vecina identificada como “Mila” se convirtió en la pérdida de su hija de año y medio y su bebé recién nacido.

Era octubre de 2006, Arely estaba embarazada de su séptimo hijo, y una tarjeta de presentación en la que se leía: “Si eres madre soltera, desesperada, y no tienes quién te ayude, nosotros te ayudamos”, parecía ser la luz que estaba esperando.

En esa tarjeta la describían a ella. Y el hombre que llegó a dejársela por recomendación de “Mila” le dijo que había un lugar donde podrían adoptar a su bebé en Guatemala, en la que tendría una vida mejor.

Pero no solo eso, le prometió ayuda económica para la manutención de sus otros seis hijos si daba a su bebé en adopción. La mujer aceptó.

Dos días después, Arely asegura haber salido hacia Guatemala junto con dos de los imputados, Daniel Zúniga y Vilma Avilés. El viaje fue hecho con el argumento que era mejor que el bebé naciera en ese territorio, para posteriormente ser trasladado a Estados Unidos, donde sería adoptado.

Ella dejó a cinco hijos con sus familiares y se llevó entre sus brazos a la más pequeña, quien en ese momento tenía un año y medio.

Transcurrieron dos meses desde su llegada a Guatemala, durante ese tiempo le entregaron documentos de identidad falsos a nombre de Clara Luz López Nájera.

Con ese nombre la presentaron con al menos cinco personas supuestamente vinculadas con el proceso de adopción en diferentes lugares de la capital guatemalteca.

En esos dos meses, su hija enfermó de la piel, por lo que Zúniga y Avilés le sugirieron dar también a la menor en adopción. Arely nuevamente aceptó.

Después de dar a luz a su bebé, brindó testimonio frente a un juez de Paz guatemalteco y aseguró que entregaba a sus dos hijos por voluntad propia.

La mujer retornó a El Salvador a principios de 2007, y desde entonces no ha visto a los menores, contrario a la promesa hecha por los promotores de la adopción. Hasta ahora, no sabe dónde están sus dos hijos.

Tampoco recibió la ayuda económica prometida. Ante su desesperación, la mujer interpuso una denuncia ante la Fiscalía.

Durante el registro en la casa donde residen los cuatro acusados, la Policía encontró tarjetas de presentación a las que hace referencia Arely. En la tarjeta aparece un número telefónico de Guatemala.

Ayer, el Juzgado Décimo Primero de Paz envió a las dos imputadas a Cárcel de Mujeres y a los dos hombres al centro penal La Esperanza, mejor conocido como Mariona, donde permanecerán hasta la audiencia preliminar que se realizará en agosto próximo.
