Fuquay-Varina man charged with rape

FUQUAY-VARINA -- A man was charged Monday with three counts of sex offenses involving a 14-year-old girl for whom he was acting as a guardian.

James Matthew McDaniel-Webb, 46, of 105 Hillshire Court was charged with statutory rape, indecent liberties with children and statutory sexual offense. He was being held in the Wake County jail Tuesday with his bail set at $175,000.

A search warrant affidavit said the victim told police that McDaniel-Webb took nude and semi-nude photographs of her and uploaded them to his computer. In a search of his home, police seized four computers and several items of feminine clothing from the master bedroom, according to court documents.
