Judge Hears Case in 3-Year-Old's Death

According to her adoptive parents, 44-year-old Norberto Velasquez and 43-year-old Matthew Arandafell, the little girl fell down some stairs at their Northwest Bexar County home and never woke up. (Ryan O'Donnell, News 4 WOAI)

SAN ANTONIO -- A Bexar County Judge examined an affidavit that said the numerous injuries found on a 3-year-old girl did not happen all at once.

The media was not allowed access to that affidavit.

According to her adoptive parents, 44-year-old Norberto Velasquez and 43-year-old Matthew Aranda, the little girl fell down some stairs at their Northwest Bexar County home and never woke up.

Sheriff's investigators are waiting for definitive results from the little girl's autopsy before proceeding with any possible charges.

The Friday morning custody hearing was for the remaining three children in the household.

The judge ruled the children, two 5-year-olds and a 3-year-old, were to remain temporarily with Children's Protective Service. The couple is to continue paying child support to the state and will not be allowed to visit.

Both parents were in were in the courtroom, but didn't comment.
