Father Gets 1 Year in Jail For Fatally Shaking Baby

Prosecutors and defense attorneys rarely agree on how defendants should be sentenced -- especially in homicide cases. But Tuesday in 3rd District Court, both sides insisted Edd Keith Morgan should spend only 1 year in jail for fatally shaking his 5-week-old adopted daughter. Judge Dennis Fuchs said he agonized over whether to send Morgan to prison for up to 15 years for the December 2000 death of Camryn Morgan. In the end, he ordered the 43-year-old Salt Lake County man to jail for 365.....

"I will always be sorry that Camryn isn't with us," Morgan tearfully told the judge. "This might sound hypocritical, but I do love children. ...
