Confession in tot's death sends Tuckers back to jail

public

Chris and Becky Tucker are back in jail after their bonds were revoked on the heels of a confession by Becky Tucker that she fatally pushed the couple's foster daughter down the stairs in 1995.

The Tuckers pleaded guilty in March to felony charges of child abuse for locking their 6-year-old adopted daughter, Brittany, in the basement of their Trenton home and were out of jail on $10,000 bail each. But Becky Tucker confessed to Michigan authorities last week that she pushed Brittany's 3-year-old half sister, Danielle, down a flight of stairs in 1995 when the family lived in Coldwater, Mich.

Bail bondsman Mike Norton said he revoked the two $10,000 bonds Tuesday because they were a flight risk in light of the confession.

Cache County Attorney Scott Wyatt said he also feared they would flee and filed a motion in 3rd District Court to revoke their bonds on Tuesday, but Judge Leslie Lewis wasn't immediately able to rule on the motion.

The Michigan case was reopened after Utah investigators discovered Brittany, severely malnourished in the basement of the family's home, covered with sores and lice.

The Tuckers are scheduled to be sentenced by Judge Lewis on May 14. Chris Tucker pleaded guilty to second-degree felony child abuse, while Becky Tucker pleaded guilty to a third-degree charge.

Michigan police say they are also preparing a case for prosecutors, who say manslaughter charges against Becky Tucker are possible.
