Sylvia Lynn Sieferman was charged today with second-degree attempted murder in Ramsey County District Court for allegedly stabbing one of her 11-year-old adopted daughters.

Authorities are also considering charging the Roseville mother with stabbing the other 11-year-old daughter, but are waiting in case the girl's critical medical condition changes.

Sieferman is accused of stabbing her two daughters before turning the knife on herself Thursday afternoon inside their town home. The 60-year-old Sieferman's condition has been upgraded from critical to serious condition, hospital officials said.

She was taken into custody Thursday after calling police to say she'd stabbed her children.

Sieferman told 911: "I killed my children," said the criminal complaint.

Her two daughters, Hannah and Linnea were stabbed multiple times with knives and an axe, the complaint said. One was in critical condition and the other stable Thursday night.

Sieferman was found with stab wounds in various parts of her own body. Police say her wounds were self-inflicted.

Friends have said that she suffered mental and financial distress in the months leading up to the incident.
