Woman accused of killing adopted teenage son

A Cass County, Texas, woman has been arrested on charges he murdered her adopted, teenage son.

Cynthia Hudson, 45, of Queen City, is charged with capital murder in the death of 13-year-old Samuel Hudson.

The teen was killed last Wednesday. Cass County authorities have not disclosed details about the cause of death.

Cass County District Attorney Clint Allen said he filed capital murder charges because of the nature of the child's injuries. He would not discuss specifics of the medical examiner's findings.

Hudson was arrested Monday after being released from an Atlanta, Texas, hospital, where she had been admitted last week after a suicide attempt, authorities said.

Texas Child Protective Services has taken five other children from Hudson's home.

Hudson's bond has been set at $1 million.
