Not Guilty Plea In Richmond Baby Slaying
December 16, 2004
RICHMOND -- A Richmond man charged with murdering his 18-month old baby pleaded not guilty Thursday in Contra Costa County Superior Court, according to Richmond police Sgt. Mark Gagan.
Charles Thomas McEntire Jr. is accused of stabbing to death his adopted son on Nov. 22.
Police believe McEntire may have killed the boy because of the extreme stress he felt due to his wife's terminal illness and his inability to pay for her medical bills.
McEntire's wife, Edrina Gibson, suffers from lymphoma, according to Gagan.
Investigators at the Richmond Police Department opened a beneficiary account to help raise money for Gibson. So far, nearly $55,000 has been donated, Gagan said today.
