ROCKVILLE, Md. -- A Silver Spring woman is facing child abuse charges in a case involving her adopted daughter, according to the Montgomery County Police Department.

At 1 a.m. Sunday, police responded to a report of a 12-year-old girl found with a bruised face and body, two black eyes, and no shoes, according to police.

Investigators said they learned the girl was wandering in the street and flagged down a motorist to get a ride to the McDonald's restaurant in the 2700 block of University Boulevard in Wheaton. From the McDonald's, the girl was taken to an area hospital for treatment of her injuries.

Detectives arrested the 47-year-old adoptive mother of the girl. She was charged with first-degree child abuse, first-degree assault, second-degree child abuse, second-degree assault, reckless endangerment and false imprisonment. She is being held on $750,000 bond.

According to court documents, the woman stripped the girl and tied her to a bed with rope for several days. She beat the girl with multiple objects, inflicting injuries that covered the girl's entire body. The victim said she was locked in a room without food, according to the documents.

The girl said she escaped through a window and wanted to go to McDonald's because she was hungry.

Police want to speak to the Good Samaritan who picked up the girl and took her to McDonald's.

"We'd really like to talk to that person because that way we can determine where he found the child at," said Montgomery County police Officer Rodney Barnes. "We'd probably get a little better timeline as to what actually occurred. And really just to talk to the person and see what it is that they actually saw that drew their attention when they stopped and talked to the victim."

Anyone with information about the case should call police at 240-773-5481.
