Statement Regarding Masha Allen and Peter Sotos: Show Adult
On March 7, 2007, I became aware of a book by convicted child pornographer Peter Sotos called Show Adult after conducting a routine Google search on the Internet. At that time, the New York publisher of Show Adult, Creation Books, was advertising the volume as featuring what it called "child porn star Masha Allen."
In response to this discovery, I immediately notified the Child Advocate for the State of Georgia, DeAlvah Hill Simms, Esq. I also notified the Intake Technician, Vickie Morgan, and the Chief Investigator, Russell A. Lewis, Sr., of the Georgia Office of the Child Advocate. On April 17, 2007, I notified these same government officials about the pending general release of Show Adult. To date, none of these individuals have responded to my pointed and detailed concerns about this book.
On April 16, 2007, I received a limited hard cover edition of Show Adult. I immediately faxed excerpts from the book concerning Masha Allen to the Carroll County Georgia Office of the Division of Family and Children Services. The faxes were followed by a telephone conference call with county intake worker Holly Montgomery. I subsequently emailed Ms. Montgomery extensive additional material and information. To date, neither Ms. Montgomery nor anyone from the Georgia Division of Family and Children Services has responded to my pointed and detailed concerns about this book. This is despite assurances that this matter is being addressed at the "highest levels" in the State of Georgia.
On April 17, 2007, I faxed excerpts from Show Adult to the Georgia Office of the Child Advocate. Again, despite repeated inquiries, I received no response.
On May 30, 2007, I learned that Show Adult is going to be published in paperback. Once again, I notified DeAlvah Hill Simms, Esq., the Child Advocate for the State of Georgia, and Holly Montgomery, intake worker for the Carroll County Georgia Office of the Division of Family and Children Services. My communications to them clearly stated that the publication of this book can be stopped by filing an action against the New York based publisher utilizing Section 51 of the New York Civil Rights Law. Once again, I received no response from any of these government officials or anyone in the State of Georgia.
Since September 2006, the State of Georgia has been aware of and responsible for investigating and insuring Masha Allen's well being. In November 2006, Masha Allen's whereabouts became unknown to me. Despite my well-documented and profound ongoing concerns for her health and safety, I am unable to contact Masha Allen about these developments.
It is my sincere hope and expectation that those responsible for allowing Show Adult to be published are held fully accountable by the public and governmental oversight. Too little has been done for far too long to protect and assist Masha Allen with the ongoing exploitation she faces on a daily basis. It is time for official indifference to end and for courageous professionals to step up and do something to help this incredibly victimized fourteen year old girl. Anything less is implicit complicity in the crimes and moral degeneration depicted in Show Adult.
