Forum: Abandoned Children

Re: Did I miss something?
There are some things going on re: abandoned children. I am going to preface this with: DO NOT PANIC and IF YOU HAVE NOT HEARD FROM YOUR SWK, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE DO NOT WORRY!!!!!

At this point, it is really unknown about how this is going to affect cases. It could be a little, it could be A LOT.....This is what I was told:

Translation from the Ethiopian Courts:
"The number of abandoned children for adoption is highly exceeding from time to time. Hence, the court ordered the police to investigate the issue. The court wants to inform you that Starting from May 4,2009, until the police submitted the report to the court, the abandoned children case for adoption will not be seen at the court"

There are still A TON of unanswered questions such as if it is for ALL kids, or just in Addis. There are stil families getting court hearings (one just got one today that I know of) and others are still passing court. There is A TON of different information floating around blogs and other adoption groups/forums, but I am only providing what I was told from my agency.

This really is a good thing because if there is problems (ie: illegal activities) the courts are trying to take care of it, which is AWESOME because I would never want my adoption or anyone else's to be illegal. Ethical and legal adoptions are the only kind that can be accepted

Soooo, I hope this helps to eleviate a bit of the mystery. I did not want to say ANYTHING until I heard news myself. It has been a LOOOOOONG 6 days!

So lets keep praying for our agencies, for Ethiopia, for the courts, for the officials and for our kiddos...oh, and for eachother!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

HUGS to you all!!!
