How is Mrs. Haregewoin now?
21/11/2006

She's well; she's out of jail, out of trouble, but still on the frontlines of the pandemic, hauling kids in from the street hand over fist. She has about 60 children now, in two houses, about half of them infected with HIV. Her HIV-positive children are receiving medical care under the aegis of World Wide Orphans Barlow Clinic [www.wwo.org], a free pediatric AIDS clinic.
She's able to mother less these days -- she's getting weary, life is hard -- but still is committed to sheltering as many children as possible.
She's been very gratified by the interest and compassion generated by the book.
She has been awarded the Fervent Global Love of Lives Award by a foundation in Taiwan, which has invited her to tour Taiwan for ten days in the spring!
