In Canada, our Contract of Adoption states that:
The child(ren) shall retain their bonds with his/her/their family of origin.
This is taken from the family code in Ethiopia that governs adoptions. It is available on the net. Look for the New Family Code as it was modified in the last few years.
Our contract also states:
"The child **** *** would had a better education if she is adopted".
I never looked at it closely until it was pointed out to me. Made me really wonder if the average ethiopian understands how different our adoptions are here. It is permanent, the child isn't going back and all bonds are severed.
