Thank you for your interest in Waiting Children.
Thank you for your interest in Waiting Children.
Please send me your mailing address, so I can send you the password
to our website to view photos of Waiting Children. This is due to
confidentiality rules set by the countries we work with.
Not all countries allow us to feature children on our website
listing, so to see even more children who need families, you can
request a Family Finders Photo Album. The album gives photos and
brief introductions to more children that we are currently advocating
for, including our Promise Children. If you see children that you
think might be a good match for your family, I can send copies of
their profiles, with any photos, history, and medical information we
have.
The Family Finders Waiting Child program currently has more than 200
children from seven countries (the USA, China, Ethiopia, India,
Kazakhstan, Korea, Thailand, Russia and Vietnam) waiting for
families.
Family Finders places "waiting children" who are school-aged kids and
babies with some degree of "special need." It could be something
minor that works itself out with time or surgery, or that they are
part of a sibling group, have developmental delays, have a cleft lip
or palate, or something more significant like a heart condition or
genetic disease. There are some really great kids waiting for
families. Adopting a Waiting Child may be a faster way to adopt, and
often there is financial assistance available.
Some Waiting Children who are not Promise Children are eligible for
our adoption subsidy. This reduces the normal international program
and donation fees to a flat rate of $5000. The amount of savings
this represents to the family depends on which country the child is
from. For example, for the China program, it reduces the fee of
$9,950 to $5000 and for the Russia program; it reduces the fee of
$19,000 to $5000. The no-interest loan is also available along with
the subsidy.
There are children in our Waiting Child program who do not have
specific financial assistance assigned to their adoptions. Families
adopting these children can still take advantage of the WACAP no-
interest revolving loan, payable over 3 years.
You may also know that the federal government has a more than $10,000
tax credit available after the adoption is complete. This does not
help with up-front costs, but can be used to pay back loans taken out
for an adoption.
I look forward to hearing from you; please give me a call or email me
with any questions you may have, or to request more information on
any of the children. I wish you the best of luck with your adoption
plans.
