BUCHAREST - Who tried to fit if n 'is always bitterly regretted it. Yet one can not say that Ileana Bustea has not left the tracks around her wrongdoing.
Just as it is not a mystery to anyone that this volitiva Romanian lady for years - at least a dozen - look, and profitably, to international adoptions. To "sell", according to people 's accusation Romanian orphans in Europe and the world to the highest bidder. A kind of export that knows no crisis as well as being a gold mine. Four hundred in only '99. That multiplied by 50 million - the "cost" average adoption of all - how they did madame to become the richest woman in Bucharest. Rich, powerful and revenge. And informatissima.
Dana Deac, courageous journalist 's investigation of a private tv Bucharest, decided to investigate the business of international adoptions. And especially on the two nonprofit foundations that go to sunnominata lady and her sister Nicoletta Ecaterina Tabar. The two organizations - "Irene" and "Stuart", located in central Bucharest - through which you can put on the list for 'adoption.
"I had not even begun to address the problem - tells the Deac - that Bustea calls me on the phone." So you're dealing with me, "she tells me. And you like to know?, Ribatto me." This is not the concerns - cut short - However the council to be very careful. "Dana still not be intimidated and turns her documentary, which is financed with money of a U.S. foundation.
Two episodes of 30 minutes each, go on air in prime time also if after two months' by a 'other. A good job, partly achieved between Tuscany and Sicily and, moreover, accompanied by a pair of explosive interviews with Italian couples, fraud in the portfolios and feelings from Our Lady of Orphans . There are names names, dates, numbers, testimonies. A bomb. T 'aspects that someone opens an' inquiry, the newspaper resumed the news, but not absolutely nothing happens.
Apart from the fact that you can give first Bustea Then the lawsuit journalist and finally unleashes the friend that the press devotes pages and pages Painting like a kind of Mother Teresa of Calcutta. Defamed, slandered by the usual journalists chasing scoop.
You who care about one thing: give a house and a family who do not l 'ha. Result: no torches hair. Dana instead sees the ugly. And for more hours is likely not only to pay 300 million damage - which obviously did not - but also by the five and seven years in prison.
There is a better way George, a veteran of the core investigative against organized crime. Trent 'years spent in resisting every form of human flesh trafficking, prostitution, pedophilia. "Then I put the nose in the affairs of Mrs Bustea - tells George - and I played the post. Transferred from one day all 'other without a shred of explanation and more with the salary halved. And just for doing my job correctly, as an 'internal investigation has amply demonstrated.
What I discovered?
That the Foundations "Irene" and "Stuart" managed to capture, I have no evidence but I can imagine how, despite the quotas established by law the highest number of orphans in each of the districts where it is divided Bucharest. And then a sea of false medical certificates. Children suffering from third degree of dystrophy, miraculously healed within a couple of weeks, but always and after they were taken to twenty, thirty thousand dollars in Spain, America or Canada.
Certificates of convenience, issued by doctors complacent to the misery of one hundred dollars to speed up an 'adoption as a sick child takes precedence over others. I have received warnings and threats but I continued my work. Then they tried to buy. A telephone call: "the lady wants to talk, in person and in his office." No problem, I do, but if you really want to meet me, she should come from me.
A day or two after that strange phone call, the Attorney General, quite unusual, requires all files to load the Bustea. Time two weeks and I have removed 's investigation from the hands. "Forty-eight years old, widow, a daughter who lives in America, which passes ten thousand dollars a month for petty expenses, Ileana Bustea is a kind of institution in Bucharest. Amica of publishers, judges, generals, officers of the State and politicians.
So intimate as those that count - his sister has married a large piece of the national peasant party in power - to quit and always free from any judicial storm. In her beautiful home, number thirty Grigore Alexandrescu says that she organizes tournaments in bridge and poker games for selected guests. In the course of which she invariably loses thousands of dollars, won by generals and politicians.
Someone who is the malignant system, not devoid of class, for secure l 'impunity. True or false it may be, one thing is certain: Ileana Bustea despite dozens of complaints in recent years that have rained on her never had a problem that is a. Degree in Law, English and fluent Italian, shrewd, cunning, almost never comes in first person, but leaves that are exposing others to her: brokers, lawyers, employees. So knows all the rules of the game. Her game, in which no one ever loses.
What practical fin the days of Ceausescu, when "selling" children was a joke. Among the many that 'have complained there are also some Italians. What we have remitted money without obtaining any of those children seen in the rich catalogs of "Irene" or " Stuart. "Someone, a couple of Sicily, was able to get back their money until all 'last pound but had to play dirty and threatening' s intervention of the Mafia. The others, all others do not. Cheated. And among them c 'Who is still not where n' is a reason. And not for money.
Like those two of our fellow countrymen to which they were promised two brothers, a boy and a child mortality around the world. They had paid, known children, familiar with them. Only that when I went to Bucharest to portarseli finally at home, they found only one: the boy. Daniela had disappeared. And are not served nor tears, nor threats. Separated from his brother forever.
Repubblica — 30 maggio 2000 pagina 21 sezione: POLITICA ESTERA
E lei come fa a saperlo?, ribatto io.
