China Center of Adoption Affairs Talked with Officials from
US Embassy in China and Consulate in Guangzhou

On July 18, 2008, Director General Lu Yin of China Center of Adoption Affairs (CCAA) had a further talk with Randy Townsend, First Secretary and Consul of US Embassy in China and Kathryn Gelner, official in charge of adoption affairs from Guangzhou Consulate on issues during the transitional period after the Hague Convention entered into force in US and some specific cases. Directors of Administrative Office, Adopter’s Eligibility Review Department, Child's Inter-Country Placement Department and Archives Management Department and other relevant staff members were also present at the meeting.
During the meeting, Mr. Lu also informed the US officials of CCAA’s treatment of non-accredited adoption agencies in US.
Both parties agreed that this meeting has made substantial progress based on the previous one, exchanged the solutions of issues during the transitional period and planned to discuss later about other relevant issues in depth.
