UTSA staff member named Mrs. San Antonio
(March 27, 2007)--Stephanie Cameron, UTSA administrative services officer in the Office of Business Affairs, recently was named Mrs. San Antonio International 2007. She will represent Bexar County May 6 at the Mrs. Texas International Pageant in San Antonio.
Currently reporting to Pamela Bacon, associate vice president for administration, Cameron has worked at UTSA since 2002. She also served in the Office of the Provost and Academic Affairs.
Cameron is married to Tom Cameron and has a daughter, Alyssa, age 3. In May, she will complete an M.B.A., on which she has worked since 2002 while balancing a full-time job and family commitments.
"We are very proud of Stephanie, not only for her selection as Mrs. San Antonio, but also for her diligence and commitment to completing her education while maintaining superior standards in the work environment," said Kerry Kennedy, UTSA vice president for business affairs. "She is a valuable asset to our office and is a most enjoyable and conscientious employee. We wish her the best of luck. No matter the outcome of the May 6 pageant, Stephanie is a winner in our minds."
The Mrs. International System was established more than 20 years ago to recognize women for their commitment to family, profession and community stewardship. Throughout the year, Cameron not only will compete for the state crown, but also will be available for appearances, special presentations, and civic and nonprofit projects.
As a contestant, Cameron was asked to share with the public a cause or charity of her choice. She selected the nonprofit organization, Limiar, established in 1981 by her mother-in-law, Nancy Cameron. The organization's mission is to help the children of Brazil have a better life through international adoption. Limiar provides needy children with a home, food, clothes, medical treatment, education and loving support system.
Supported solely by donations, Limiar in its 20-year history has enhanced the lives of over 2,000 children in its 20-year history. Nancy Cameron died suddenly 10 months ago, and her husband and family members are working tirelessly to keep Limiar running to help the children of Brazil.
