Mrs. Margaret Hendricks, who was accused of having brutally ill-used little Amy Belmont, was convicted in the Middlesex County Court at New-Brunswick yesterday. She had taken the child from the Southern Home in Pennsylvania for adoption. Some months ago the neighbors discovered that the child had been burned and the wounds covered with mustard. Mrs. Hendricks's defense was that she had punished the child for evil practices, but the testimony from the Home was that both before and after the period Amy spent with Mrs. Hendricks no bad practices had been noticed.
