Woman convicted of scalding 7-year-old son

GREEN BAY, Wis. (AP) -- A woman accused with her husband of scalding their 7 year-old son has pleaded no contest to felony child abuse in Brown County.

As part of a plea deal, prosecutors dismissed a charge of causing mental harm to a child against 38-year-old Lisa Sangraw.

A criminal complaint says the mother heard her son crying while her husband was giving him a bath last February. Sangraw told police she went into the bathroom and saw the boy partially submerged in the water. Her husband, Raymond Sangraw, was holding the boy under his arms, then placed him in the shower.

School officials later noticed the boy had lost weight and was acting oddly in class. A social worker learned the boy had been treated for burns at Children's Hospital in Milwaukee. The complaint says hospital workers found second-degree burns on the lower half of his body.

The complaint says the boy appeared dehydrated and malnourished.

Raymond Sangraw is also charged with child abuse and causing mental harm to a child.
