The husband of a woman convicted of capital murder in 2000 was extradited to El Paso from Indianapolis on Wednesday for allegedly helping his fugitive wife, the Southwest Border Fugitive Task Force said.

Robert Melendez, 30, was charged with hindering apprehension for allegedly helping Martha Melendez hide in Mexico, where she was captured Nov. 6. He was arrested Nov. 24 in a traffic stop in Indiana.

Martha Melendez, 29, fled before being found guilty in the death of 20-month-old Breianna Melendez, a relative's daughter she was raising.
