ROCKVILLE - A judge Friday continued the case of a Mansfield foster mother accused of killing an infant in her care and scheduled her next court appearance for Oct. 24.

Suzanne Listro, 42, of 260 Stearns Road, is charged with first- degree manslaughter and risk of injury to a minor.

Listro was originally given a $1 million bond, but the bond was reduced to $980,000 at a previous court appearance. She posted bond is now free.

According to court documents, Listro took foster child Michael Brown Jr. into her care May 12. Brown died May 19.

Listro said the child fell from her bed, according to court documents, but the state medical examiner reported Brown's injuries were inconsistent with Listro's account of events.

Listro worked for the state Department of Children and Families for 12 years and spent the past year as a "children's servicesconsultant." Separate from her employment, she was also a foster-care provider licensed by the department.

The child's death has prompted a review of department's treatment of its own employees, specifically in the area of foster- parent licensing.
