Jacko to adopt child from Britain

King of pop Michael Jackson is considering adopting a child from Britain.

The Thriller hitmaker, who is in Britain for his sell-out concerts, is said to feel he is an ‘ideal’ adoptive parent. The singer, who already has three kids, has told associates to make contact with a British adoption agency with links throughout the world.

“His life is his children. Wherever he goes, they go, and he has said it would be good to have another child,” the Daily Express quoted a source, as saying.

“Contact has been made with an adoption agency in Britain which has a very good reputation. It could be that he was inspired by Madonna who adopted a little African boy but nobody really knows what kicked this all off,” the source added.

It is being speculated that the 50-year-old has become confident after the response to his July concert dates at the O2 arena. “He senses he is viewed differently here than he is in the States. Before his concerts he has said he wants to spend at least three weeks in Britain, getting used to the time zone and exploring the country,” the source said.

“It is during this period that he wants to have meetings about adoption. He has not said if he wants a boy or a girl, just that it would be good for the family to have another brother or sister,” the source added.

However, any bid to adopt is bound to trigger a storm of protest because of allegations of child sex abuse against Jackson, 50. “Michael feels that the British fans really understand him. He feels he has shaken off the sex abuse allegations. It is a new beginning,” the source said.

Is there something in the water?

“Contact has been made with an adoption agency in Britain which has a very good reputation. It could be that he was inspired by Madonna who adopted a little African boy but nobody really knows what kicked this all off,” the source added.

What is it about Britain that makes washed-up American pop-celebrities cross the pond to resurrect a career AND adopt a child?

I suppose in Jacko's case, sexual abuse allegations made in the USA will not influence a British adoption agency's future decision on his case -- after all, as the article states:  “Michael feels that the British fans really understand him. He feels he has shaken off the sex abuse allegations. It is a new beginning,”

I don't care how much money the man has and continues to make -- there are just some chances people (within the child placement system) should not take.

I wouldn't rate his chances very highly

I wouldn't rate his chances very highly of adopting a British child, bringing one here from somewhere else to adopt maybe

"an adoption agency in Britain which has a very good reputation", umm... not for very long I would think if it gets involved in that particular adoption. Never mind the sex abuse allegation anyone who swings a child about over the edge of a sixth floor balcony in front of the press isn't going to get taken to kindly to, then there's his age, he'd getting on a bit for a domestic adoption here
