Sandra J. `Sandy' Scudder, 54 Loving mother, daughter, sister and aunt

LOVES PARK - Sandra J. "Sandy" Scudder, 54, of Loves Park was called home to her Lord at 9:50 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 11, 2003, in Kindred Hospital, Sycamore, after a courageous battle with cancer. Born June 4, 1949, in Rockford she was the oldest daughter of Albert W. and Dorothy A. (Knipprath) Turney. Graduated from Harlem High School in 1967. Attended South State University in Wisconsin and Rock Valley College. Sandy led a quiet life of service - service to her Lord, her family, her employer and her community. She was a loyal employee with a 24-year career with the U.S. Postal Service. She was a big sister for the Big Brother/Big Sister organization and taught adult reading for the literacy council. Active member of North Love Baptist Church. For many years, she shared her home and her love with the white German shepherds she raised. The great joys in her life came in 1998 when she traveled to China to adopt Bethany and again in 2001 to bring home Esther. She was a devoted mother and thankful that the lord had chosen these two beautiful daughters for her. The survivors who are left behind to cherish her memories include daughter, Bethany E. Scudder mother, Dorothy Turney, both of Loves Park sister, Dian Little of Inverness, Fla. niece, Carissa Little and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. Predeceased by daughter, Esther in 2002 and father, Albert in 2000. A grateful thanks to her many loyal friends for their prayers, visits, cards, love and support. A kind and gentle spirit is at rest.
