The two eldest adopted daughters of Thomas L. Bates of Southboro yesterday told a Worcester Superior Court jury how bedtime stories read by their father would lead to episodes of fondling and other sexual activity.
One of the women, a 20-year-old Westboro resident, said Bates began fondling her when she was between 4 and 5, shortly after she moved in with him and his wife. The episodes continued until she was 8 or 9 and stopped after the Bateses adopted four brothers and sisters with just
