CEDARVILLE PAIR'S HEARING PUT OFF UNTIL JAN. 19

January 9, 1993

Dayton Daily News

A hearing scheduled for Friday involving Kathleen and Timothy Carroll of Cedarville has been postponed pending possible transfer of any criminal proceedings from Greene County Common Pleas Court to the county juvenile court.

The hearing had been called so Common Pleas Judge Thomas M. Rose could consider whether to grant separate trials for the couple, charged with involuntary manslaughter in the bleach-related death of an adopted daughter, Hannah, 6. Following Hannah's death on Sept. 21, three of the Carrolls' 10 adopted children also died.

As a result, the remaining children were removed from the home for a time and then returned just before Christmas.

"The process associated with the reunification of the Carroll family has generated vast and favorable information," says a motion filed by John H. Rion and Dennis E. Gump, the Carrolls' attorneys.

The new hearing date is Jan. 19, the date previously set for the Carrolls' trial.
