A husband and wife from Shannon County face child neglect charges after one of their adopted daughters was found walking down a dirt road earlier this week, with no shoes.

On Monday, Mark and Melissa McGregor of Summersville, were arrested and charged with two counts of child neglect each.

Court documents show one of the couple's two adopted daughters was found by a neighbor walking down a dirt road, near the couple's home on County Road 340, near Summersville.

The teen was bleeding from the bottoms of her feet, and had fresh welt marks on her arms.

Investigators say the teen looked to be very skinny and malnourished.

Documents say the girl continuously told investigators that she was starving, even after they gave her food and water.

She went on to say that when she doesn’t ask permission for doing something, she is constantly locked in the couple's sun room for hours. She says she is also put in a small, dark room, that has a concrete floor, with a thin mattress and no pillows.

The girl told police she normally gets to shower once a week but hadn't showered in weeks when the neighbor found her.

Documents say the girl and her twin sister are treated differently than the couples eight biological children.

The Shannon County Sheriff's Office says All 10 children have been taken from the home.

Both parents are out of jail right now.

They made bond Monday.

They are due in court later this month.
