'Nancy Grace' features Erica Parsons case

SALISBURY, N.C. —The investigation into 15-year-old Erica Parsons' disappearance is gaining more national attention. The case was the center of Nancy Grace's talk show Thursday night.

The woman who says she hired Erica’s adoptive mother, Casey Parsons, to be a surrogate said on “Nancy Grace” there were a number of issues with the arrangement and she couldn't get information she needed about the pregnancy.

The woman, who only identified herself as "Stephanie," said that six weeks into the pregnancy, Casey told her she had miscarried, but Casey apparently never sent over certain paperwork to confirm that was the case.

She said it was also difficult because they were in separate states going to separate clinics.

Grace asked why she picked Casey to be the surrogate.

"I chose here because she seemed like the perfect candidate. She misrepresented herself from day one," the Michigan woman said.

Court documents given to Eyewitness News weeks ago claim that Casey lied about the miscarriage because she had plans to sell the baby. The mother said she found out and threatened the Parsons with legal action, so the child was given to his mother in Michigan the day that he was born.

Erica Parsons was reported missing last month after disappearing in November 2011. Her adoptive parents have said they sent her to live with a biological grandmother in Asheville, but police said that woman has been dead for several years.
