A Lehi woman is accused of choking two children she adopted.

Heidi L. Robinson, 38, was charged in 4th District Court on June 28 with five counts of second-degree felony child abuse in connection with abuse of her adopted daughter and son over a three-year period.

The alleged abuse occurred between January 2007 and December 2010, according to charging documents. Charges state Robinson choked her daughter once to the point that the girl stopped breathing and that she choked her son at least two times to the point where he couldn’t breathe.

The woman is also accused of causing “severe emotional harm” to both her daughter and son.

Court documents don’t offer other details into the alleged abuse, including the ages of the children involved.

A message left at Robinson’s Lehi home was not immediately returned Tuesday afternoon. Robinson is scheduled for an initial appearance July 26 before Judge Steven Hansen.
