Rape, incest suspect charged in Arkansas

public

An Arkansas man facing charges of rape and incest in Boone County is believed to have committed a similar act in Sebastian County, Ark.

Between the dates of Aug. 1, 2009, and May 27, 2010, Jon Paul Reid, 40, of Barling, Ark., allegedly engaged in sexual activity with an 11-year-old female family member, according to court documents. Reid would make the child urinate on him and told her if she told anyone of the incidents that he would kill himself.

The warrant for arrest was issued Sept. 1, and Reid was issued the warrant Wednesday as an inmate of the Boone County Jail. His Sebastian County bail amount is set at $100,000, cash only, on the charge of fugitive from justice. No bond will be allowed for an additional rape charge.

Reid has been incarcerated at the jail since his Aug. 10 arrest on charges of first-degree statutory rape, first-degree child molestation, incest and first-degree endangering the welfare of a child.

A family member reported Reid to Boone County authorities in June, saying he had been having sex with a 10-year-old female relative since spring 2008 in the Sturgeon area.

He faces trial in Boone County Circuit Court on May 3.
