The York County couple accused of beating their adopted Russian son to death are seeking contact with the boy's twin sister.

This week, Michael Craver, of Carroll Township, petitioned a judge to allow him to telephone and/or write his daughter, Elizabeth, 8.

Michael Craver's attorney, Suzanne Smith, said she is hoping for a ruling when the couple has a status conference on Sept. 22.

Nanette Craver's attorney, Rick Robinson, said he plans to offer a similar petition at that conference.

"They want to be able to have contact with their child," Robinson said.

Elizabeth is being cared for in an undisclosed location.

The Cravers have been jailed since February on charges of homicide, criminal conspiracy and child endangerment charges. According to court documents, Nathaniel Craver died in August 2009, due to a combination of blunt force trauma and other injuries.

While there are no allegations the couple mistreated Elizabeth, Magisterial District Judge Richard Thomas ordered the couple have no contact with their daughter at their arraignment.

The Cravers have been jailed in York County Prison without bail since their arrest. Prosecutors are seeking the death penalty.
